CD runs but no sound due to CD-ROM not connected to sound card
Cause:
There is no sound from the CD because the CD-ROM drive is not connected to the sound card.
Solution:
Connect CD-ROM drive to the sound card.
CAUTION: A qualified computer technician should perform the installation, diagnostic or maintenance tasks below.
The CD-ROM requires two connections to work correctly. The first is the bus connection that allows the transfer of data. Usually, this is a SCSI connector of IDE or EIDE connection. The second is the RCA plug on the back of the CD-ROM. External CD-ROMs use RCA connectors that look like speakers on a stereo. Internal CD-ROMs require a connector to the sound card.
To connect the CD-ROM to the sound card:
1) Plug the speakers into the audio jack of the CD-ROM drive.
2) Connect the sound card cable to the CD-ROM drive and the sound card.
